Fine Grooming For Men

I tell all of my new clients... your head tells me how to cut your hair. Texture, density, growth patterns, whirls, cowlicks. But most importantly bone structure and face shape. Knowing where to create a plane, temporal and occipital bones. It’s mechanics, geometry, architecture, and methodology. Enhancement, minimizing, or accentuating features to compliment your face. Specific techniques to create texture where necessary. Today’s barbers don’t learn these things. They’re handed clippers and told have at it. They learn “shape ups” and sharp lines that look great walking out the door with tons of product to keep it in place. But in three days, not so fresh. A perfect cut should have movement and wearability, without a ton of product. It should also have longevity. I don’t need to see you every two weeks. But I want to be the one you always come back to see.  

When asked why I chose this profession, simple; growing up in South Philly the barbershop was a place of fraternal camaraderie and bonding, coming of age and lessons of life. Emerson said: “Conversation is the laboratory and the workshop of the student.” Then that feeling when someone just knew your hair, your style, your persona and made it fit. No better feeling in the world walking out of that shop. Walked a little taller, had an air of confidence and just felt damn good. Not in a vain way. To know how important it was to me is how important I make it to you. And to give someone that feeling is the most gratifying thing I’m able to do. That’s why I do what I do. I don’t believe I have competition. I have colleagues. I may not be the barber for everyone, that’s what my colleagues are for. Those who appreciate the lost art, that difference in quality, those I live for. I opt for quality & precision over churning them out for a buck. Quality over quantity. Like Sunday Dinners I strive to keep that alive. 

If my legacy is anything I hope it is to pay it forward and keep It going. Try every day to be better than my best and help those around attain their selfsame goals.
